8th Annual Party & Auction
Our 8th Annual Party, which was a great success, benefited the Small Planet Fund grantees and a
homegrown hero, Just Food.
The party and auction, which took place in a private loft in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, raised more than $20,000 for the valuable work of Just Food and our core grantees.
We were proud to honor Jacquie Berger of Just Food as our 2009 Honoree.
Thanks to all who supported the 8th Annual Party & Auction!

HONOREES
2009: Jacquie Berger, Just Food
2008: Lucas Benitez, Coalition of Immokalee Workers
2007: Luis Antonio Pasquetti, Landless Workers Movement
A highlight of our 6th annual party was our special guest Luis Antonio Pasquetti, a leader of the Landless Workers Movement, one of the largest social movements in Latin America and a Small Planet Fund core grantee. At the annual bash, guests drank and dined on local organic food and wine, while bidding on silent and live auction items, and enjoying an impromptu rendition of Puff the Magic Dragon by guest Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul, and Mary) and his daughter Bethany.
2006: Vandana Shiva, Research Foundation on Science, Technology, and Ecology
We were honored to welcome our special guest, Dr. Vandana Shiva of the Research Foundation on Science, Technology, and Ecology, who joined us for an intimate pre-party Living Democracy Cocktail Hour. Dr. Shiva has long been involved with cutting-edge work to conserve biodiversity and protect people’s rights from threats to their livelihoods and environment from agrochemical and agricultural biotech companies.
Other special guests have included:
2005: Amy Goodman, Democracy Now
2004: Eric Schlosser, Fast Food Nation
In addition, we have had the lovely music of Bethany&Rufus and have appreciated the generous contributions of our caterer The Cleaver Company.
