Thanks to everyone who joined us for our Sixth Annual Gala & Fundraiser on Thursday, December 13th, 2007 in New York City. A highlight of the event was a special Democracy Cocktail Hour with Luis Antonio Pasquetti, a leader of the Landless Workers Movement, one of the largest social movements in Latin America and a Small Planet Fund core grantee. At the annual bash, guests drank and dined on local organic food and wine, rubbed elbows with environmental movers and shakers while bidding on silent and live auction items, and enjoyed an impromptu rendition of Puff the Magic Dragon from guest Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul, and Mary) and his daughter Bethany (who performed at the party—see bethanyandrufus.com).

We would love you to join us next year or to make a contribution to the annual auction. Sign up on our mailing list or contact our event coordinator, Carrie Wykoff, at Carrie@eventsthatmatter.net.

About Past Events

2006: We were also honored to welcome our special guest last year, Dr. Vandana Shiva of the Research Foundation on Science, Technology, and Ecology, who joined us for an intimate pre-party Living Democracy Cocktail Hour. A gutsy critic of the false promises of chemical farming and genetically modified seeds, Dr. Shiva has long done cutting-edge work to conserve bio-diversity and protect people's rights from threats to their livelihoods and environment.

An additional thank you to our 2006 co-sponsors:
