Gift Certificate for Savoy
Savoy is a restaurant with a simple thought that we can create delicious and memorable meals by sourcing the very best ingredients from farmers we know, and then augment these flavors with a straightforward cooking style. Our cuisine combines the ease and tradition of great country cooking with the independence and creativity emblematic of downtown New York. Savoy chefs continually evolve new menu items to reflect the changing seasons, and pursue traditional preparations that have been cast aside as our culture rushed to embrace modern technology. Years of building relationships with farmers, chefs, food thinkers and writers have established Savoy (and Chef Peter Hoffman) as a restaurant with deep roots in cuisine, the local economy, and a long-term commitment to good food and great hospitality that extends well beyond current trends. |

Of this moment the photographer Sebatiao Salgado writes: "With no reaction from the latifundio's small army, the men in the vanguard break the padlock and the gate opens wide. They enter. Behind them, the human river begins to move. Scythes, hoes and banners are raised in the unrestrained avalanche of hope in this re-encounter with life - and the repressed shout of the landless sounds as one voice in the brightness of the new day: 'AGRARIAN REFORM - THE STRUGGLE OF ALL!' Paraná, 1996." |
